10DOP – Day 5: MAF

January 15, 2014

Mission Aviation Fellowship is a wonderful organization that does amazing things and we are honored to be a part of it.  I encourage you today to go over to their website if you haven’t been in a while, learn a new thing or two about how awesome they are and what the Lord is doing in other parts of the world (we’re in many many different countries), and praise the Lord for sustaining MAF for 69 years and counting.

Please pray for the home office staff, located here in Nampa, ID, for the recruiters stationed all around the country as they look for new people to join, and for the MAF missionaries all around the world, including some countries where missionaries are not so welcome.  Also pray for the financial supporters of the organization.  They sustain the airplanes, maintenance and necessary costs of operating in foreign countries – an amazing blessing.

10DOP – Day 4: Our Financial Supporters

January 14, 2014

We are so grateful for those who have committed to join our financial team!  We cannot go without the financial resources of those sharing with us.  We hope our ministry is a blessing to those who support it.

Please pray today for the finances of those giving so sacrificially.  That their jobs and incomes remain stable so that they can continue to give as the Lord leads them.  We also thank the Lord that they have made the decision to give!

Finally, please pray that more will join our financial support team.  We need about 80 people or families to join at $40 per month to be 100% supported and able to return to Congo.  That number seems high, but we know God is in control of those called to give and the timing in which they do it!

10DOP – Day 3: Our Prayer Supporters

January 13, 2014

Hopefully, this is many of you!  Today we hope you’ll join us in praying for our prayer supporters.  Prayer for missionaries is the number way to support us!  So easy, yet so easy to forget.  Hopefully, our prayer card is hanging somewhere in the home to remind those who have committed to be praying for us (if you don’t have one – we would be happy to send you one)!

So, we want to pray for stamina for this wonderful group of people – that they would continue to pray for us throughout our journey, in each stage of the process.  We want to pray prayers of thanksgiving for the many of you who have committed to praying for us!  And, finally, we ask that you pray that more would join, and that some would be blessed through their prayers for our ministry!

10DOP – Day 2: The Kids

January 12, 2014
The three MKs

The three MKs

Levi, Amelia and Axel are such troopers.  They have lived a life in full swing, barely stopping for more than a year in stability.

Our first prayer for them is for patience.  Patience with us as we parent through the changes, and patience with each other as they grow together.  We also pray for their health and good physical growth, especially overseas.  Lastly, and most importantly, we ask that you continually pray for their hearts – that they would grow closer to Christ.

10DOP – Day 1: Matthew & Lisa

January 11, 2014

For our first day of prayer, we ask that you pray for US!  It sounds selfish, but it is oh-so-necessary.  A life of full time ministry, plus three kiddos, makes for an easy way of asking for prayer.

Today, please pray for our own spiritual renewal each day, with time in prayer and God’s Word.  Please pray that we have time together to keep our marriage strong.  Pray for us as parents – whew, this stage has such mountains and valleys!!!  Finally, pray that the training we’re receiving in this stage of life will cement us as useful tools for the Lord in a foreign land!

For fun, here is a photo history of our TEN years together (we first met February 21, 2004).

100% Outgoing Support!

January 8, 2014

We thank you, especially those of you who gave so generously at the end of the year, that we have REACHED 100% OF OUR OUTGOING COSTS!!!

That’s $18,000, and then some!!!

We are so excited to reach this goal!

THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!

So, what does this mean?  It means the cost of our travels, vaccinations, language school, shipment, etc. – the one-time costs – are now covered.

What do we still need?  We still need people to join our support team on a monthly basis.  Or a quarterly basis.  Or giving yearly.  We still need $3481 each month.  Would you consider being part of our team in this way?

(If you’re on our list to receive our prayer letter, it printed today BEFORE we learned that we had reached 100% of our outgoing costs…just so ya know.)

10 Days of Prayer

January 4, 2014

On January 11th, please join us for 10 Days of Prayer.  From January 11 to January 20, we are asking that all of you join us in prayer for our ministry.  Each day, we will post one aspect that needs prayer.

January 11th is special to us, because it marks our third anniversary with MAF.  Can you believe it has been three years already?  Three years with our hearts and minds focused on serving the Congolese people through the work of MAF!  What a crazy ride it has been, and it has only just begun!

We are need of prayer constantly, but we hope you’ll dedicate just a few minutes each day to praying for us during those ten days…stay tuned!

Christmas at the Lind’s

December 30, 2013

I unexpectedly took a month-long hiatus from blogging, apparently.  Let’s not let that happen again.  Or maybe no one noticed.

Our Christmas was a really great time with family.  We hosted Matthew’s mum and his sister and her family also joined us to round out a family-focused Christmas.  It was festive and fun to watch the cousins run around and play together.  My (Lisa’s) parents surprised us by coming into town on Christmas Day and we got to spend a bonus three days with them after Matthew’s family headed home.  Over all, good times.

We’ve been busy getting to know Axel, working on the house (Matthew, mostly), finishing the leadership training, and working harder at ministry partnership – where we build our support team to be able to return to DR Congo as soon as possible, but always in God’s timing.  Our next official MAF training module is at the end of January, so between now and then we will be busy working on the above list.

Axel continues to grow well.  Today was our last midwife appointment, since he is seven weeks tomorrow(!!!), and he is already 10lb 12oz!  That slow start is a long ago memory.

I have been busy posting pictures to Facebook, but I realize that doesn’t help many of you…so here are a few from the real camera to sum up our last few weeks.

So, as we enter the new year, please remember us in prayer – and let us know you’re praying for us!  We have a busy time ahead in 2014: training, language school in a new country, and moving back to DRC, Lord willing!  As you budget yourself for next year, please consider adding a monthly donation to our ministry to our team.  Just a little bit each month to support us spreading the love of Jesus Christ in a dark place.

Also, a bit of house cleaning, if you’d like to be receiving our [new] weekly prayer updates, send us your email address.  If you’d like to receive our prayer letter, with a new one coming in January, make sure we have either your email or post address!  A new look is coming for the new year…stay tuned!

Merry Christmas!

Axel’s Weight is…

December 4, 2013

Thank you to everyone who prayed for Axel, in reference to our previous post.  I ended up going in to the midwives’ clinic today, a day earlier than planned, since I was in the area, and the little guy had gained not six, but SEVEN ounces in the past week!  So, he’s now a full ounce above birth weight and going strong.  Let’s hope this continues, but for now we are praising the Lord for such a healthy growing kiddo!
